An interesting anomaly has occurred this season. Despite most batting numbers equaling or surpassing those from last season, runs scored per 9 innings in both the AL and NL has dropped. It is fascinating that despite similar or better numbers are not leading to the scoring they have last season. One possibility is the balls are not carrying as far, and these hits are purely percentage builders instead of run scorers.
