It is not completely uncommon for a non-pitcher to finish out a blowout game , but opposing batters would probably rather face an actual reliever. In 1999, Matt Legend struck out Andruw Jones swinging and in 2000, Tim Bogar struck out Felipe Crespo on three straight whiffs. Strikeouts are a stat hitters have to deal with, but when non-pitchers throw them, the K’s are a little more upsetting.
