New York Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner made his plans for pitcher Joba Chamberlain explicitly clear on Sunday, telling the New York Times "I want him as a starter ... and we need him there now." Steinbrenner also noted that if he was in a position to make decisions when Chamberlain was thrust into a setup role last season, he "wouldn't have allowed" such a move.
his job is to run an organization, not to make a name for himself. even his father over the past few years has learned to shut up. hank has been a completel no-name before the end of last season, it appalls me how much power he think he has now.
he needs to stop running his mouth. he obviously just likes the spotlight and wants to feel important. remember before the season started and he made his comment about "restoring the universe to order" by having the yankees on top again? where are they now? brian cashman knows what he's doing, hes been a part of championship teams. this is hank's second or third year as a part of the organization. he should relax and stop trying to make people notice him.
The thing about this story is that Hank doesn't run the Yankees, therefore it's Brian Cashman's call to whether or not Joba stays in the bullpen. So, in my opinion, Hank needs to shut up and let the players play were Girardi and Cashman tell them to.
