Pedro Alvarez, who employs Scott Boras as his agent, refused to sign his contract with the Pirates because Alvarez thinks the deal (which included a $6 million signing bonus) needs to be renegotiated. The Players' Association filed a grievance with the league because, they claim, the deadline to sign prospects was unfairly extended for the Pirates and Alvarez. Stay tuned.
