After a rough and tumble game against the Chinese Olympic team, the U.S. won 4-2 against the Taiwanese team. This win guarantees the U.S. team a spot in the medal round, which starts after their last game against Japan. Matt LaPorta suffered a concussion after being beaned in the head during the China-U.S. game. Cinching the spot in the medal round will allow LaPorta to take a break and rest.
