With Tim Wakefield on the disabled list and Clay Buchholz struggling in his first full season in the majors, the Boston Red Sox added Paul Byrd to their rotation in their push for the playoffs. Byrd is the third big-name player Cleveland has moved this summer, following CC Sabathia and Casey Blake. The Indians will receive a player to be named later or cash, while the Sox add a versatile, veteran arm.
Good move for the Sox. Byrd has been good since the All-Star break and they can throw him in the bullpen should Wake and Bartolo return healthy and if Buchholz shows signs of life.
Good Move...
