Tim Wakefield, knuckleball-extraordinare, was placed on the disabled list over the weekend because of an injury to his right shoulder. It was the pitcher's first trip to the disabled list this season, and poses a large quandry for the Red Sox. That is: who will take Wakefield's place. The obvious candidate seems to be Justin Masterson, who was replaced in the rotation by Clay Buchholz (who fell to the White Sox Sunday, making his record 2-8 on the season). But Boston.com's Extra Bases blog runs through the list of replacements, and comes up with some interesting names and strategies.
