After playing in only 23 games the entire year, Oakland 3B Eric Chavez will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his right shoulder. In limited action, Chavez hit .247 with 2 home runs and 14 RBIs, and the A's opted to have the surgery now in hopes of a more productive season next year.
