John Maine left his last start with a sore shoulder, and will now miss at least an additional 10 days because of the same problem. Maine was placed on the disabled list Sunday because of a strained right rotator cuff, an injury that sounds worse than it actually is. Maine is expected back when he is eligible to come off the DL next week. In his place, the Mets will likely recall Claudio Vargas to take the 9-7 pitcher's place.
