Skip Carey, the well-known, long-time announcer for the Atlanta Braves, died in his sleep Sunday. He was 68. Carey, the son of Harry and the father of Chip, had suffered a long list of health issues over the past year. Among the illnesses, Carey was suffering from congestive heart failure, diabetes, an irregular heart beat and the reduced functionality in both his kidneys and liver. Carey had broadcast Braves games since 1976, and became nationally well-known when TBS broadcast Braves games nationally.
