Within an hour of finding out he was to go to L.A., Manny Ramirez had his agent, Scott Boras, try to convince Boston to keep him. An insider says Boras promised that, if the Red Sox dropped the option years, Ramirez would behave for the rest of the season, all but admitting that Ramirez was disruptive on purpose and could stop at will . Red Sox said thanks, but no thanks and sent him packing.
