Khalil Greene will miss the remainder of the 2008 season because of a broken hand that happened when the San Diego shortstop punched a storage chest during Wednesday's game.  Though Greene has been struggling throughout the season (hitting .213 with 10 HRs and 15 2Bs), he said that reacting the way he did was inexcusable.

"I don't know how to put into words the frustration level, how difficult this year has been," Greene told the San Diego Union Tribune. "For me to do that, it's certainly no commonplace."

The kicker in this situation is that the Padres do not have a reliable shortstop to take Greene's spot with the team. We guess that's what happens when one of the worst teams in the league doesn't make any significant trades at the deadline, as the Padres failed to do yesterday.
