Pedro Martinez, as one might suspect, is encouraging the Mets' front office to go out and acquire his former teammate, Manny Ramirez. Ramirez, as has been well documented around the internet (this site included), has seemingly been unhappy in Boston for quite a while. But the interesting thing is that the Mets don't appear to be one of the teams reportedly in talks with the Red Sox about acquiring the left fielder. There are three teams in talks with the Red Sox about the slugger. The leader to land Ramirez, if anyone does, is currently the Phillies, who are managed by Charlie Manuel (Ramirez' former hitting coach in Cleveland). The other two teams thought to have contacted the Red Sox are the Dodgers and Marlins, but that of course is just rumor at this point. Stay tuned over the course of the next day for additional updates about the Manny Ramirez trade rumors.
