Taking the spot vacated by Kerry Wood will be none other than former Notre Dame WR Jeff Samardzija. It didn't take long for Samardzija to make it to the big leagues (1 1/2 years), and if he pitches well for the NL Central leaders in middle relief, expect him to stay with the team for many years to come.
