As has been the theme throughout the season, two small market teams made another big splash Thursday with Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria and Milwaukee's Corey Hart winning the two slots on the All-Star team, decided entirely by the fans. The best marketing campaign ("I Hart New York") was one of the biggest reasons why the Brewers' RF will find himself in the Bronx both Monday and Tuesday nights. Getting down to the nuts and bolts of the voting - Longoria (9 million votes) defeated, in order of most votes received to the least, the White Sox' Jermaine Dye, Jason Giambi's facial hair, Baltimore's Brian Roberts and the Royals' Jose Guillen. Hart (8 million votes) beat out, in order, New York's David Wright, the Phillies' Pat Burrell, San Francisco's Aaron Rowand and Houston's Carlos Lee.
