After just 16 pitches and one out recorded, Mark Mulder's first start for the Cardinals in over a year ended because of discomfort in his left shoulder. The LHP will have his shoulder examined Wednesday, and although shoulder surgeries are extremely advanced in this day and age, Wednesday very well could have been the last time Mulder sets foot on a big-league mound.
