On the shoulders of a strong outing by James Shields, the Rays beat the Red Sox 5-4 Monday night. It was the first of both teams' biggest series this year, and it was amazingly only 82.4% full (according to ESPN's recap). But despite the poor attendence, the Rays hope to solidify themselves as contendors not only for the AL East, but for the World Series in the next two days of their series with Boston.
