There has always been great controversy over instituting instant replay in baseball; however, it appears that it is certainly in baseball’s future. In fact, it could be in use as early as late August of this season once the League irons out issues with the system, which will be used for boundary calls such as foul balls and home runs.

To do this, the Tigers will likely get rid of Edgar Renteria, and with low hopes of getting rid of Sheffield, dealing Magglio Ordonez may be a serious option.
A day following Gary Sheffield's remarks about a lack of playing time and his desire to be more than a designated hitter, the Detroit Tigers placed the disgruntled outfielder on waivers. Sheffield said on Monday that he doesn't "know how to be the leader that I am from the bench," a comment which "flabbergasted" manger Jim Leyland.
