Yankees Young ace Joba Chamberlain expects to be back in action sometime next week. Chamberlain believes that he will more than likely work out of the bullpen rather than in a starting role. Along with Joba, fantasy owners are hoping that he forego a minor league rehab stint and return to the mound as soon as possible.
LA Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick is back on the DL with another hamstring injury after missing 40 games earlier with a similar injury. When Kendrick is healthy, he could help out any fantasy team with a batting average over .300. His biggest problem is finding a way to stay on the field.
With all the hoopla that surrounded the Manny Ramirez trade, it's easy to forget about Adam Dunn's relocation to Arizona. Dunn has made an impact on the field and in the clubhouse, just doing what he does best: drive in runs and get on base. Dunn has a .463 OBP since the trade and his new team now has a 3 game lead in the NL West.
After making only 43 game appearances this season, Mets catcher Ramon Castro has been sidelined again with a strained quad. Castro will have to miss at least 11 games with the injury and his absence weakens the Mets offense against left handed pitching. Robinson Cancel was re-called from Triple-A to fill the roster spot.
Yes you read correctly, Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton missed Wednesday's game with an abcessed tooth. Hamilton may or may not sit out another game prior to getting the root canal needed to fix the problem, but fantasy owners need not be too alarmed due to the nature of this minor injury.
