Soriano Lands On D.L - Will Make Quick, Full Recovery

Alfonso Soriano did his trademark hop onto the 15-day D.L. Wednesday after straining his right calf.  Luckily for the Cubs and their cynical fan base, Soriano is expected to make a quick, full recovery.  In the meantime, Mark DeRosa is expected to fill in at left field, and Mike Fontenot will take DeRosa's position at second base.

Though it may have taken a while, Wednesday’s match-up between the Yankees and the Red Sox certainly kept the numbers on the scoreboard moving along, with the Yankees winning 15-9. More notably, at one point during that four hour monster of a game, Alex Rodriguez hit his 522nd home run, putting him at 15th on the career home-run list

Man Falls to Death at Shea

The Jackie Robinson Day celebration turned tragic when a 36-year-old man fell two stories off an escalator to his death at Shea Stadium on Tuesday night. He was exiting the stadium with his two daughters and cousin after a Mets victory over the Reds. The death was an accident and no charges have been filed, according to the police.

Upwards of 300 Major League Baseball Players wore Robinson's number 42 as a tribute to the player who broke the color barrier in baseball 61 years ago. Robinson’s wife, Rachel, appeared at Citi Field, the Mets’ ballpark that will open in 2009, where the team unveiled its designs for a rotunda that will honor Robinson with an eight foot statue of his number surrounded by eight large pictures of the legendary player at the stadium’s central entrance.

The Boston Red Sox rallied back from a one run deficit , thanks to Manny Ramirez’s two-run shot in the ninth, to beat the Cleveland Indians 6-4 last night in a repeat of last year’s ALCS match-up. In addition to securing a lead for the Sox, Manny’s homer secured him a spot beside Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff as 24th on the career homerun list.
